Jacqueline Ueda, O.D.
Dr. Jacqueline Ueda is a tremendous asset to Jenkins Eye Care, with exceptional training and over 25 years of experience in the eye care field. Dr. Ueda received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, then graduated with distinction from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California.
Dr. Ueda spent her early years working at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute conducting research and seeing patients at a glaucoma speciality practice, then joined a private practice specializing in cataract surgery. During the 8 years of working at that practice, she also worked at one of UCLA’s first satellite refractive surgery clinics.
Following her professional career in California, Dr. Ueda moved to Hawaii in 1997. For 12 years, she served as the Clinical Director of the Laser Eye Center of Hawaii, the island’s first laser refractive surgery center. There she met Dr. Jenkins, Medical Director of the center. They worked side by side and experienced first-hand, the excitement of offering PRK and LASIK to the people of Hawaii. Dr. Ueda performed PRK and LASIK examinations, as well as assisted with planning patient treatment for the over 15,000 procedures performed at the center. As a liaison to the over 130 affiliated doctors, she helped establish a foundation of trust that ensured each doctors’ patients received the utmost of care.
Dr. Ueda joined Jenkins Eye Care in January 2011. Bringing her extensive eye care experience, she is also proficient in conducting eye examinations in Japanese and welcomes Japanese-speaking patients to the practice. Outside of work, Dr. Ueda enjoys spending time with her husband, hiking and running, and is an avid sports fan.
